Celox RAPID Hemostatic Z-fold Gauze by BioStat LLC is a 4th generation hemostatic dressing designed for use primarily by EMS first responders, law enforcement, military and other emergency service professionals who need to stop traumatic bleeding quickly. Celox is designed for use in wounds made by gunshots, blasts, knives, and shrapnel.

The Celox dressing can be applied through strong blood flows, severe high pressure bleeding, and arterial and venous bleeding, including blood containing heparin, coumadin or warfarin. The current generation of hemostatic agents need at least 3 minutes of compression to work, Celox RAPID gauze removes the delay by speeding up packing time and reducing compression time to just 60 seconds while using the proven haemostat technology of Celox.

Celox RAPID is made with Chitosan-R, an activated chitosan that binds to the surface of red blood cells to form a gel-like plug at the bleeding site. With faster packing and faster compression, up to three minutes can be saved on caring for a casualty.

Chitosan-R in Celox RAPID is a compound derived from shrimp shells and is safe for use by people with shellfish allergies. It works without generating heat or burning, without stimulating the body’s own clotting process, is effective in hypothermic conditions, and is easily irrigated from wounds when a casualty presents for further medical treatment.

Independent testing on Celox RAPID has shown the product works on lethal injuries and significantly reduces blood loss, a model of tactical evacuation showed that the Celox RAPID Gauze stayed in place during transport with no re-bleeding. Has been proven in laboratory trails to stop major arterial bleeding by coagulating the blood within 1 minute, reducing blood loss. Data for all claims is on file at Medtrade.
